This team was a vision that started many years ago. Our Coaches had a vision of a team... a league... built around principle, morals and training kids to be the best that they can be.
So that's how the Viper's began. We started in 2010 with a winter teaching camp, but most of our players have been playing travel or select level of play for years now. We have a talented group of kids that are committed to being successful. We have four teams this spring and are adding more for the fall. We do not turn away kids that are willing to be coachable teachable. We will help any young men that are willing to help themselves with a good attitude. We have 2 weeknight field practices and a Sunday night indoor coaching session to help develop kids that is open to all who come.
We don't believe we know everything about baseball or sports in general but we believe that real leadership and a willingness to learn can produce incredible results. We are teaching our kids and working on becoming better coaches. We want our teams to be successful and in order to do that, we look for the one thing that makes each kid great and build their confidence around that. If you find the seed of greatness in each kid then it will build that confidence.
There is NO DADDY BALL HERE! The day is quickly coming when no coach will have a son on the team he helps with. We must rise above the politics, gossip and basic bad attitudes and have fun. We will keep our focus on the development of young men. Our desire is that these kids go further and faster and better than we ever did, not to make our selves look good but to give the kids the best they deserve. Baseball is fun and we need to keep it that way!
So we ask the question earlier have you ever thought about; Coachable, Teachable, Professional, MLB, Career? These are all things young men strive for, no matter what direction in life they head. With the Varina Vipers, we are committed to building, preparing, and encouraging through our coaching staff and the community of families we are building in our organization.
